There’s a growing trend for giving back. People across all age groups are volunteering like never before. But giving back doesn’t mean that you don’t get anything in return. It can mean helping others reach new heights in their lives and reaching a new level in your own life.
Have you explored the benefits of being or becoming a Philanthropist? For starters a philanthropist is someone who engages in philanthropy; that is, someone who donates his or her time, money, and reputation to charitable causes. Giving to your favorite charity feels good, there’s no denying that. But your charitable initiatives can have a greater impact on your community more than you may think. Gone are the days when donations are all about the tax break.
Today everyday people are developing values-driven giving opportunities to help support their philanthropic efforts grow even deeper roots in the things they care about the most. While charitable donations may have an immeasurable impact on our communities, actions speak volumes as well. Giving your time and labor to local causes can also result in substantial charter building and bonding time with the people you serve which has a stronger, happier, and more active community.
if you think you need to have money to be a philanthropist, you are wrong! All of us can improve the conditions in our communities in some way by engaging and give more of ourselves strategically, to make targeted efforts to contribute more of our time. As Mother Teresa reminds all of us “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”
This year I am encouraging all of my colleges to become philanthropists for the communities they serve. If any of you is having trouble selecting a humanity cause, or charity, I will share one of my favorite charity “St. Jude “www.stjude.org” has a very special place in my heart. Find somewhere to volunteer today and give!
